Yes, male gouramis are known to chase female gouramis during the mating process. It is not possible to determine if a gourami is pregnant without further information or observation. Gouramis are egg-laying fish, so they do not become pregnant in the same way that mammals do. However, female gouramis may appear rounder or have a more swollen abdomen when they are carrying eggs. It is best to observe the behavior and physical characteristics of the gourami over time to determine if it is carrying eggs. **

The main difference between a male gourami and a female gourami is their appearance. Male gouramis typically have brighter and more vibrant colors, while females tend to be duller in color. Additionally, male gouramis often have longer and more pointed dorsal fins, while females have shorter and rounder dorsal fins. Finally, male gouramis may develop a more prominent "lump" on their forehead called a "nuchal hump" during breeding season, which is not present in females. **
